Steve Jobs' persistence

Steve Jobs was a friend of mine, though only professional. I wrote this article in 2021, a decade after he passed away. I admire him not for his success but for his determination and persistence.

The episode explores Steve Jobs’ distinctive leadership, particularly his unwavering determination.

Jobs' approach was characterized by persistence in pushing boundaries, driving his team to achieve what many thought was impossible. He didn’t settle for mediocrity, constantly challenging his team to meet ambitious goals.

Jobs' vision, however, required not only determination but also the support of an exceptionally talented team. His leadership style often took extreme forms — he could be demanding, even unreasonable. However, his team still managed to translate his bold ideas into real-world products, pushing technological innovation forward.

This leadership style had a polarizing effect. While it led to monumental successes like the iPhone, it also risked catastrophic failure. After all, Jobs’ legacy lies in his exceptional ability to persist, which was the foundation of both his breakthroughs and the extreme risks he took.
