I have been writing for decades, mainly in Traditional Chinese, covering tech news and industry analyses in the early days, and marketing management in the last ten years.
While I’ve taught in colleges and was asked to open online classes, I had been reluctant to do so due to my “social phobia.” I feel comfortable giving face-to-face advice in offices, classrooms, and cafés, but not in front of a camera and an empty studio.
A week ago, I found a godsend: Google’s NotebookLM, which is capable of “reading” text and turning it into an AI-generated conversation featuring a female and a male voice.
The best thing is that it really reads between the lines.
Simply put, I’ve hoped for a usable voice representation of my works and a “fair third party” to read them and give its thoughts. Fortunately, NotebookLM does a good job playing both roles.
This episode came from my first experiment: talking about the marketing book I wrote last year, and I was ecstatic.
The episodes that appear in this podcast are made from the articles of my main publication:
(literally “Fred’s Hardcore Marketing Classroom”) featuring posts from me and a few friends.I’d always listen to the audio before posting to ensure AI reads me right. I hope someday I’ll have the time to write and read the English content myself. Before that, I’ll have AI to lend me a hand.
I also wish Google would develop an AI service capable of conducting similar conversations in Chinese so I can share the “deep dives” with my readers.
Hope you like it too.
